The City’s project ultimately went ahead, adding the chemicals city wide in 2018.  In 2020 the City was forced to discontinue the addition of NaOH due an extreme type of pitting corrosion in water supply pipes resulting in the widespread epidemic of leaking pipes and resulting property damage. Several lawsuits were launched against the City including a class action lawsuit seeking compensation of $350 million to cover the tens of thousands of residents, and businesses whose plumbing systems were damaged by the City’s introduction of sodium hydroxide into the water supply.

In 2011 Rhonda successfully replaced a lead pipe by hand.

In October 2021 she completed a project to replace one of the longest lead pipes in the city. With the hope of encouraging citizens to replace their lead water line, she documented the process and published a short video to promote Superior Water Solutions and their Horizontal Directional Drilling services.
